It’s interesting where you can find life altering wisdom. While sitting on my parent’s couch this Thanksgiving,  looking at the black Friday newspaper ads, I saw an ad for Sears. Now what caught my eye wasn’t the great deals that the store claimed to have. It was Sears’ new slogan: Don’t Just Give a Gift, Grant a Dream. As I started to ponder this thought, my mind began to race towards the meaning of Christmas. I began to realize that God, in sending his Son as a child almost two thousand years ago, wasn’t just giving us a gift. He was actually granting our Dream.

When Adam and Eve dropped the ball in the Garden of Eden (Gen. 3), their descendants (Us) were left to pay the price. The Dream of eternal fellowship with God, was shattered and replaced with the Dread of death and suffering. This left us unfulfilled, unsatisfied, and searching for something to fill the void of our lost dream. But God, knowing what we need most, had a plan for restoring Our Dream. He sent his Son, not meant as just another Gift, but as a fulfillment of more than we ever dreamed possible.

“But there’s far more to life for us. We’re citizens of high heaven! We’re waiting the arrival of the Savior, the Master, Jesus Christ, who will transform our earthy bodies into glorious bodies like his own. He’ll make us beautiful and whole with the same powerful skill by which he is putting everything as it should be, under and around him.”  Philippians 3:20-21 (Message)

This Christmas, as you gather with friends and family, remember the Christ of Christmas. He wasn’t just sent as a child to bring us grace, love, and faith. He was sent to restore Your Dream of something more than this world has to offer. From Our Family to Yours, Merry Christmas.
